MRU Youth Parliament hails Acting NPA Boss

The Acting Managing Director at the National Port Authority (NPA), David Forkpa Williams has received huge commendations from Liberian youths for his immense contribution to various youth development initiatives across the Country.

Mr. Williams received the commendations last weekend through an appreciation note from the leadership of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament – Liberia Chapter, in which its leadership, on behalf of the thousands of young people across Liberia, thanked him for his unrelenting  support, particularly during the just ended 2nd National Youth Conference on Post-Ebola Recovery Strategies held in Zorzor, Lofa County from March 26-28, 2015 under the auspices of the MRUYP.

According to the appreciation note, Director Williams is amongst a very faithful few eminent statesmen, who though contacted very lately, but ably responded to request for support towards shouldering the cost of holding such historic event that brought together youths from across the seven districts of Lofa as host County, and from the other fourteen Counties across the Country.

The young people claimed that such communication was their way of showing appreciation to Mr. Williams for being very responsive to their request, particularly so when he was only contacted in the dire minutes nearing the departure of delegates to the conference.

They characterized him as a selfless leader, who believes in the capacity building of younger people, something they believe is very cardinal to the future of Liberia.

Responding to the appreciation, Mr. Williams, through a proxy, thanked the youth leaders for recognizing his contribution towards their initiatives and quickly reemphasized the urgency for the empowerment of the younger generation, stressing that anything on the contrary would undermine the future of the State.

The Acting Managing Director indicated that the success of any nation is guaranteed by the readiness of its youthful population to drive the developmental agenda of the Country.

The proxy said the Acting NPA boss has always desired to build the capacity of the youths to ensure that the similar opportunities he benefited from while in his youthful stage can be made available and even better for today’s generation.

He pledged his willingness and commitment to always identify with and work alongside the young people with the desire of giving them the space needed to aspire for greatness by utilizing their full potential towards nation building and national governance.
