The leadership of the 2nd Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter (MRUYP-LC) has disclosed here that all is set for the last session of the parliament.
In a release issued Thursday, August 18, the parliament says “The MRU is pleased to announce to the general public that the rescheduled date for the upcoming last session and Leadership Elections of the 2nd MRUYP-LC and 3rd MRUYP-LC respectively is Saturday and Sunday, August 27-28, 2016, in Bentol, Montserrado County.”
According to the release, the Leadership of the Parliament will on Monday, August 22, 2016 begin the issuance of invitations for the pending session to all those who were newly elected as Parliamentarian.
The release, signed by the Chair on Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Cheeter B. Dweh furthered that issuance of invitations to participants and other officials will begin at 10:00AM – 4:00PM daily at the National Headquarters of the Parliament on Capital Bye-Pass in Monrovia.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dweh has also disclosed the Leadership yesterday; August 17, 2016 received a letter from the Minister of Youth and Sports Saah Charles N’Tow, requesting its presence at a meeting on August 26, to discuss issues relating to the growth of the institution.
It can be recalled that the Mano River Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter officially ended its elections recently in the various counties across the country with certification of 24 newly elected officers to steer the affairs of the parliament.
Speaking recently at the certification program, Parliamentary Speaker Melvin Sarh, said the parliament’s primary duty is to ensure democracy is fulfilled, saying “And today, we have fulfilled the principal of democracy – 24 persons from 12 counties were certificated here today as far as I’m concern, we don’t have an official complaint from Gbarpolu that there was no election held, all we can say is that election was conducted in Gbarpolu, and reports were submitted to our office.”
