Murphy Nagbe Finally Back

Lone Star’s former captain Murphy Nagbe finally appeared in the Blue Jersey for LISCR FC last Saturday in Monrovia. The defender is spending his second season in local action, after sustaining leg injury on national duty in Senegal.

The 24-year old stopper resumed training a few months ago, after a season with LIRSC FC. He said, his return was aimed preparing for oversea career and a spot on the national team.

His selection to play for Liberia will be an addition to the team, as they continue to be confronted by with the problem of central defense. Nagbe’s reappearance was considered by a number of fans attending the LISCR FC 1-0 victory over Watanga FC, as a solution to the main problem of the Lone Star.

For the past two African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Lone Star has featured two attacking defenders. Alex Karmo of Kenyan Western Stima FC and George Baysah of Hapoel Kfar Saba FC of Israel were position in one game each.

Murphy Nagbe began his career with home side, Genesis FC in 1995, playing in countless battles for the club.  After three years, he signed with St. Anthony FC. He was later employed by another top side; NPA Anchors Football club singed the defender to build up their defense in the local competition.

After a season at the club, Nagbe moved to another local club, signing a deal with his current club LISCR FC in 2002. In 2002, the central defender joined the National team of Liberia.

The defender finally made his international trip to South Africa in 2003, where he signed a deal with Durban Football club. Nagbe spent two seasons at the South African side, at which time he played most of the club league matches and made his a named.

In 2005, Murphy departed Africa to continue his career in Asia, where he settled with Persekabpas Pasuruan FC. The Liberian defender was unable to stay another season at Persekabpas Pasuruan FC after playing 50 games for the club.

He received countless invitations from other Indonesian and Asian clubs, and moved on to another Indonesian club, PSMs Medan FC. Nagbe joined Medan FC in 2007 on a worthy deal and added a trophy to the club, playing nearly two seasons, but discontinued due to injuries.
