Musa Bility Wins Liberia FA Elections

The President of Watanga F.C. and acting Chairman of a new political group in Liberia – National Democratic Alliance, Musa \bility, was over the weekend, elected President of the Liberia Football Association(LFA) for the next four year.

Bility was elected during the 15th Ordinary Congress held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex last Saturday, 20 March 2010.

The Acting NDA Chairman pulled 66 votes, while incumbent and outgoing FA President, Izetta Wesley got 17 votes, and George Williams scored 3 out of the total of 86 votes cast.

Others elected were Musa Shannon, Vice President for Administration and Adolf Lawrence, Vice President for Operations with 33 and 62 votes respectively.

Bishop John Aleen Gblayee and Moses G. Dargbah won the positions of Executive Committee members for the  Premier Division, while Samuel Y. Karn, and Ansu V.  Dulleh will now represent first division clubs respectively.

Harris T. Kennedy, Ibrahim Y. Sheriff, S. Matthew P. Smith and D. Sheba Brown were also elected Executive Committee members representing Sub Committees, Sub Associations, Varsity and BASAAL of the Liberia Football Association respectively.

The elections were observed by representatives from the West African Football Union (WAFU), Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Federation International Football Association (FIFA).

In a brief statement, FA President-elect Musa Bility said Liberian soccer enthusiasts should see his ascendancy as the dawning of a new day for Football in Liberia.

He said change has come, noting “Indeed, this an all inclusive change where soccer fans in Liberia will feel the passion of their own league, and Club owners will benefit immensely from their investment.”
