Muslims FC Top Bong Division
The national 3rd & 4th Division leagues in Bong County have been climaxed with Muslim Stars Football Club finishing on top of the 3rd division table. Fourteen teams participated in the 3rd division, while ten clubs ran in the 4th division. A total of ninety eight matches were played.
Five clubs from Bong County qualified for the national playoff. They are Muslim Stars FC, Mighty Dragons FC, Maimu FC, Young Pro FC and karkiayah FC. Their preliminary playoff matches are usually scheduled against teams from neighboring Nimba County.
The County’s national league chairman, Joseph G. Fredrick told a New Dawn interview that the league received only five footballs from the Liberia Football Association as ‘start-up tools, but could not receive further support. The four-month league was sponsored from little resources because of the passion of the game. Fredrick said referees were compensated from the same resources.
When contacted, the Liberia Football Association press office said there was no need for the issue discussed with the Bong County official chairman to be published in the media, but if it was so desired, so be it.
