NASSCORP ends interactive forum in M’land

The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation or NASSCORP, ends a day-long annual national interactive forum in Harper City, Maryland County, southeast Liberia.

The forum held on Wednesday, May 24, 2018 was attended by personalities and institutions covered by NASSCORP. Assistant Director General for public information, education and training, Winston Jah says the forum’s intent is to inform stakeholders about NASSCORP’s operations and a pending amendment of its policy expected to take effect shortly.

He says the exercise is conducted once every year to educate employers and employees about the entity’s operations and to encourage every employer to ensure his or her entity is covered by NASSCORP to benefit when there is no more strength to work or in case of accident on the job.

During the forum, employees of institutions invited asked questions to clear their doubts about NASSCORP’s operations, ranging from how one could become a member, how they could get benefits of relatives in case of death or accident if they were covered by social security.

Mara Suku, an employee of a non-governmental organization, South Eastern Women Development Association or SEWODA, lauds NASSCORP for the forum, adding that it has educated her greatly and she will make sure all employees of her entity are covered under scheme for their own benefit.

“When you are covered by NASSCORP, in case of death, your children or family can benefit from the NASSCORP money, so it is important that all employers and employees be covered by NASSCORP”, she notes.
