Nat’l County Meet Results, As Round One Ends

The National County Sport Meet first round matches ended Sunday around the country. The tournament got on the way a week ago, with an opening ceremony in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Grand Bassa on Saturday, December 4, 2010, fell to the legs of strangers, Grand Cape Mount County in kickball and won 2-0 in football.

In Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County on Sunday, Dec-5 defeated Visiting side, Rivercess County in kickball 9-5 home runs and forced a 1-1 draw in football.

Defending champions, Nimba County failed to live up to expectations when they went down to visiting side, River Gee County 1-2 in football and took the day in kickball by defeating the visitors in Sanniquellie.

Bong County, with all of the determinations for this year’s championship, failed to prove tough when they miserably fell to Lofa County in kickball 8-2 home rounds in Gbarnga and narrowly escaped defeat to settle for a 0-0 draw before home crowd at the Gbarnga Sports Stadium.

On Sunday, Dec-12, Bomi County went down to Grand Kru County in kickball 11-15 in Tubmanburg, and secured a 2-0 victory over the visitors in football. Sinoe County lost narrowly to Gbarpolu County 6-7 in kickball, but whipped the travelers 1-0 in football before home fans in Greenville.

From Cape Montserrado to Cape Palmas went Montserrado County, losing1-5 home runs in kickball to their hosts, but could not allow a repetition in football at the Harper Sports Stadium, when they held Maryland County to a 1-1 draw. 

The second round of the National County Meet begins shortly.
