NCBAL breaks grounds for modern office

The National Customs Broker Association of Liberia or CNBAL near the Freeport of Monrovia has broken grounds for the construction of a modern office. The groundbreaking ceremony was executed over the weekend on Saturday July, 15, 2016, at the association’s current head office opposite the Freeport on Bushrod Island.

Officials of the association, members of the public, employees of the NPA, and employees of various customs and clearing institutions attended the ceremony. The president of the association Mr. lvan I.F. Tumbey for and on behalf of the CNBAL leadership announced L$1 Million to help kickoff the project, adding “We strongly believe that every custom breaker here will see reason and desire to help us in this process, because this is not about the president, or the vice president but this modernized office that we all seeking is for the benefit of every one of us; this must not be seen as a one man project.”

He said it is about time the current leadership work in concert to improve the association. “If you are a registered custom breaker, I call on you to dip into your pocket or purse and come up with something to start this project; we must not limit it to the officials alone, this is not our private or personal projects. We embarked on this journey to say enough is enough to those who think that this project will not complete”, Mr. Tumbey vowed.

Several pledges were made during the ceremony, while among others the Faith International Clearing Company presented 15 bags of cement, North Side Incorporated pledged five bags of cement, and one custom broker Saah Harris donated US$100 on behalf of his institution.

For his part, the co-chair and advisor to the president, Mr. Amos Benjamin said the purpose for the groundbreaking is to relocate the current office of the association to a modernized one, saying “We cannot continue to remain in this building all the time.

According to him, since the establishment of the association this was the first time under the current leadership to initiate such great project. “We say we will stand with you in making sure that your dream, vision, and goal for this project is achieved; in so doing, I give hundred United State dollars, and every employee of our company will give one bag of cement each”, Mr. Benjamin announced.
