The Board of Commissioners (BoC) of the National Elections Commission has appointed Mr. Anthony Sengbeas the new Executive Director. Sengbe’s appointment comes a few days following the resignation of former Executive Director LaminLighe.
Anthony Sengbe, who has been in the employs of the Commission since 2004, served the institution as Financial Comptroller for 9 years between 2004 and 2013. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sengbe has been serving as Director of Compliance and Risk Management since 2017.
In his appointment letter, dated November 12, 2019 and signed by the Chairman of the BoC Jerome Korkoya, Mr. Sengle’s appointment takes immediate effect. The letter says, “As Executive Director, you shall be the head of the Administrative Division of the Commission and principle administrative assistant to the Chairman in the overall activities and operations of the Commission”.TheBoC reminded the new Executive Director that his “specific duties and functions are detailed in Section 2.21 of the New Elections Law of Liberia”.
