NEC eesume interaction with True Whig Party

NEC buildingThe National Elections Commission (NEC) has announced that it has resumed interactions with the True Whig Party.

According to the press release The Chairman of the Commission, Cllr. Jerome G. Kokorya said the decision to resume formal business with the True Whig Party is a result of the resolution of a long standing leadership crisis within the party.

Chairman Kokorya made the disclosure to political party leaders Tuesday at an Inter-Party Consultative Committee meeting held at the headquarters of the Commission in Monrovia.

It can be recalled that in 2013, the Commission suspended all relations with the TWP because of its failure to resolve a long standing dispute which split the party between two rival factions headed by Reginald Goodridge and Peter Vuku.

At the time, the two rival factions were informed that unless they held a national convention to resolve the leadership crisis, all interactions with them by the NEC would remain suspended.

The True Whig Party on Monday, July 6, 2015 held its national convention during which a new leadership, headed by Mr. Reginald Goodridge as Chairman, was elected.-Press Release
