New CEO Takes-Over at Lonestar-Mtn

Lonestar Communications Corporation, a member of the MTN Group has a new Chief Executive Officer. Nominated by the MTN Group as announced by its Group.

President and CEO Sifiso Dabengwa, and approved by the Board of Directors of Lonestar Communications Corporation through its Chairman, Mr. Benoni W. Urey,   Mr. Tebogo Mogapi began his duties at the Corporation effective Friday, June 1,  2012.

With over 26 years of combined experience in the Telecommunications and Sales & Marketing Industry at senior levels, Mr. Mogapi replaces Mr. Mazen Mroue, CEO of Lonestar Cell MTN for the last 14 months, who has now taken up a new assignment as CEO at MTN Uganda.

Mr. Mogapi has been recognized by a recent 360 Degree feedback as a High Achiever who embodies integrity and trust, and has a drive for results. Before his appointment to Lonestar Cell MTN, he served as Chief Business Sales Officer at MTN SA. He joined MTN South Africa in 2000 as a Corporate Sales Manager.

He was then deployed to various positions in MTN Nigeria, the last of which was Sales and Distribution Executive. He was appointed CEO of MTN Swaziland in 2007 and later returned to MTN SA in 2010. “We are proud to have such calibre of senior and seasoned expertise within the MTN fold”, Group President and CEO Mr. Sifiso Dabengwa said of Mr. Mogapi.

The Chairman of Lonestar Communications Corporation, Mr. Benoni W. Urey said that the Board of Directors was pleased to appoint Mr. Mogapi  as the new CEO and  challenged him to maintain the leadership of Lonestar Cell MTN while reaching out in new and creative ways.

Mr. Tebogo Mogapi , has served on several boards including MTN Rwanda and MTN Zambia. He holds several business qualifications including Global Executive Programmes from Wits Business School, Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria and the South African Institute of Management.

Mr. Tebogo Mogapi thanked the MTN Group for his nomination and the Board of Directors of Lonestar Cell MTN for his appointment.

He said, he is looking forward to making a positive contribution to the continued success of Lonestar Cell MTN, and more importantly to work with the Liberian Telecommunications Authority in a constructive way that would help rebuild relationships and form new ones.

He said, he is more than committed to working with all the other players and relevant stakeholders to making the Liberian telecommunications sector the one to be measured against by other countries.
