New Police Barracks in Rivercess

A newly constructed police barrack has been dedicated in Cestos City, Rivercess County. The ceremony, held on Wednesday this week, was attended by the German ambassador here, UN officials as well as officers of the Liberian National Police.

Speaking during dedication, Supt. Wellington Geevon-Smith paid tribute to the German Government and people for their assistance in Liberia’s reconstruction programs. He named the lack of security and magisterial courts as some of the concerns faced by the people of Rivercess.

According to him, the county has only two magisterial courts within the 8 political districts. Smith noted that Rivercess has reserved minerals, and there were about 10,000 illicit miners mining in the county and the need for more security manpower so as to cope with the security problem could not be over-emphasized.
