Nimba, Liberia, June 7, 2024 – The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested and charged an officer of the Liberia Immigration Services (LIS) assigned at the Ganta-Guinea border with huge quantity of narcotic substance known as Kush.

The suspect, Captain Ansu P. Fofana, has been charged and sent to court for possession of dangerous drugs while at work in his official uniform.

The New Dawn Nimba County correspondent gathered that Suspect Fofana is awaiting trial at the Sanniquellie Central Prison.

The arrest of Captain Ansu P. Fofana brings to four the number of immigration officers assigned in Nimba County who have been arrested with drugs. Months ago, the LDEA arrested another immigration officer, escorting a drug dealer at the Ganta border.

The LDEA Nimba County Commander, Abraham OKai Payne, has disclosed the arrest of more than 50 drug suspects and users in Ganta, including an 8-year-old boy.

According to Commander Payne, he has been mandated by President Joseph Boakai to combat drugs in Nimba, with plans underway to move to other parts of the country to fight drugs.
