Nimba citizens damn PYJ

Some citizens of Nimba County under the banner Nimba Citizens United for Peace and Reconciliation strongly condemn Senator Prince Yormie Johnson for making false accusations which they say are dangerous to the people of Nimba.

Reading a statement here Monday, the Secretary General of the group, Aphonso Korto says, recent accusations by Senator Johnson against Representative Samuel G. Kogar to President George Manneh Weah that Kogar was inciting citizens’ revolt against the Government of Liberia is erroneous.

Korto notes the accusation has compelled Rep. Kogar to vehemently deny, and their independent investigation establishes the Nimba Lawmaker has never been involved in such as alleged by Sen. Johnson. He says it has not only brought a dangerous crevice between the two leaders from the same county, but potentially bad for the image of the entire Nimba.

According to him, Sen. Johnson’s wild accusations are negative, divisive and have placed a dark cloud over Nimba County and portrayed the county in a bad posture.“As you are aware, Nimba County has been affected by these kinds of unwholesome behaviors counting and ranging from the late Chief Jerry Gonyon who in the 1990’s misinformed and told falsehood to the late President Samuel K. Doe and without any investigation the late President Doe arbitrarily arrested and killed many Namibians and unfortunately now Sen. Johnson has taken the mantle from the notorious chief Jerry Gonyon to set up Nimbaians’’ Korto explains.

At the same time, the group also condemns the recent statement by Sen. Johnson, who openly told the Liberian people and the world at large that he [Johnson] still has men and women from Nimba in single barrel arms to obstruct any establishment of war crimes court in Liberia.

The group is calling on the traditional council of Nimba to cite Sen. Johnson for query over these unfortunate allegations and that also the Nimba caucus takes seize of the matter for further investigation.
