A senatorial candidate for Nimba County has threatened to take legal action against any institution or individual who may want to manipulate the senatorial election in the county.

Cllr.Yamie Quiqui Gbisaye says his statement stems from the previous claim by Senator Prince Y. Johnson that several legislative contestants from Nimba won the 2011 election through his (Sen. Johnson) personal influence and that of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

According to Cllr. Gbeisay, the governing Unity Party openly supported the re-election bid of Senator Johnson. He expressed fear that the Nimba County senatorial race might be manipulated by the Senator with the support of the Liberian leader. The Nimba senatorial candidate also claimed President Sirleaf allegedly mobilized chiefs and elders in the county to re-elect Senator Prince Johnson.

At the same time, Cllr. Gbisaye cautioned the National Elections Commission to ensure the polls are free and transparent election, threatening to take NEC to court if the poll results are influenced by any individual or organization.
