Several youth groups in Nimba County are accusing the county administration including members of the Nimba Legislative Caucus of misappropriating US$600,000 from a scrap company in the county called Sethi.
Alphanso Korto and A. Goba Selekpoh claim County Superintendent Dorr Cooper received the amount on behalf of the county administration along with the caucus to support the company’s continuous operation in Nimba.
The two youth leaders explain to this paper the management of the scrap firm provided the money so its operation could not be stopped by lawmakers from Nimba.
Appearing on several community radio stations in the county, they allege Superintendent Cooper engaged the company to provide said amount so that he could talk with the caucus remain flexible with the company.
They further allege Nimba County receives US$1.5 million annually from the company, but said money is yet to make any meaningful impact on the lives of citizens.
But speaking on another community radio station in Sanniquellie, Senator Prince Johnson dismissed the youth leaders’ claims as false.
