The President-elect for the 15th District Men Presidents of the Monrovia District, Monrovia Office, Monrovia District Conference, Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Conference in Liberia, Jerry T. Geweh, has warned the newly inducted leadership it would not be business as usual under his two-year regime, as President.
Addressing scores of worshippers recently during the induction ceremony held in Topoe Village, Somalia Drive, Mr. Geweh said he has noticed that individuals appointed or elected to positions within the church have reneged in executing their respective mandates.
He warned the new officers that to serve as a leader in the United Methodist Church is not a right, but a privilege, urging them to work to produce results during their tenure.
According to him, as a means of moving the work of the church ahead, he was pleased to on behalf of himself and his family to donate 25 bags of cement for the construction of a proposed Retreat Center on the church’s land acquired in Cheesemenburg Township, Montserrado County.
Mr. Goweh further warns his colleagues they were not elected to serve themselves but the people of the church who elected them, urging them to work in accordance with their respective mandates.
Those inducted into offices were: Jerry T. Geweh, President of George Hne Doe United Methodist Church; B. BonokollieZinnan, Vice President for Administrations, from St. Matthews United Methodist Church; Joshua M. Davidson,Vice President for Operations, J. E. Marshall United Methodist Church, Julu Johnson, Secretary General, J. K. Asmah United Methodist Church, and Jeremiah N. Nah,Assistant General Secretary, Trinity United Methodist Church, respectively.
Others include, Richard O. Tutu, Financial Secretary, Ebenezer United Methodist Church; Emmanuel G. Glaybo, Assistant Financial Secretary, 72nd. United Methodist Church; I. Stanton Railey,Treasure, S. T. Nagbe United Methodist Church, Isaac Jah-Seedee,Statistician, Doe Juah Memorial United Methodist Church, and P. Gwolokaju Hundred-Chairman, New Georgia United Methodist Church, respectively.
Meanwhile, President Geweh in consultation with high commend of the Lott G. Matthews Memorial United Methodist Church has made several appointments to various committees to enhance the work of the UMC.
Delivering a powerful sermon earlier, visiting Guest Preacher Philip H. Reyolds of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church based in Lexington, United States of America (USA) encouraged the inducted officials and congregation that they can succeed in everything they do no matter how high the mountain is.
