No Ebola case in Liberia

CMO Clarifies
The Chief Medical Officer of Liberia and Deputy Health Minister Francis Kateh has clarified that there is no other Ebola case in Liberia. Dr. Kateh’s clarification was against a report of a renewed outbreak of Ebola in Liberia.

He told UNMIL radio that the report was not only true, but misleading, saying since the last outbreak of the disease, there has been no new case. He admonished Liberians remain calm and harbor no fear because Ebola has not resurfaced, further urging them to continue observing the Ebola preventive methods, including hand- washing.

He encouraged community leaders to report all cases of dead bodies to the various Health teams for swapping and adequately utilize the 4455 numbers in case of any Ebola case or symptoms. He noted that dead bodies needed to be swapped for testing on suspicion of Ebola.

Dr. Kateh also warned Liberians to be careful with people suspicious of signs and symptoms of the virus, saying anyone carrying such signs and symptoms of Ebola should be reported by calling 4455.
