NPA-Management presents Performance Report and Strategic Plans to Pres. Boakai

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has commended the Management of the National Port Authority (NPA) for their proactive approach in Port Operations in Liberia and reaffirmed government’s support for initiatives that drive infrastructural development, improve governance, and promote sustainable economic growth.
Monrovia, March 25, 2025: President Boakai was speaking at a meeting with the NPA leadership on Monday, March 24, at the Executive Mansion when the team presented a 14-month performance report that outline key strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing Liberia’s port infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.
President Boakai lauded the NPA leadership for the level of progress being achieved at the National Port Authority over the past 14 months.
He said the NPA being the gateway to the Liberian economy will be given the fullest support that will put it on pal with ports in west Africa, emphasizing the importance the NPA plays in the viability of the Liberia’s economy.
During the meeting, the NPA leadership headed by Mr. Sekou A. M. Dukuly submitted a comprehensive review of the Authority’s achievements, challenges, and financial performance over the past year.
Additionally, they presented detailed plans for the renovation and upgrading of all ports across Liberia, ensuring they meet international standards and support the country’s economic growth.
Speaking at the meeting, NPA Managing Director Dukuly reiterated the NPA’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and operational excellence, emphasizing that the proposed reforms will strengthen Liberia’s maritime sector and contribute to the government’s broader economic agenda.
Mr. Dukuly said his leadership team is currently focusing on the Infrastructure Development of all ports, which is a strategic rollout plan for the rehabilitation and modernization of port facilities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery for port users.
According to him, the NPA’s thorough assessment of existing contracts and concessions with prime emphasis on the APM- Terminals Concession is intended to ensure transparency, competitiveness, and alignment with the government’s goal of fostering a business-friendly environment.
The meeting was attended by NPA board Chairman J. Luther Tarpeh, Deputy Managing Director of Administration James Barnard amongst others.
