NPA Sports Assoc. New Boss Promises Great Changes

The newly elected president of the National Port Authority or NPA Sports Association has vowed to change positively, several things in the organization. Augustus Vokar made this promise shortly after he was declared winner of the elections held on 12 February 2010.

“I will market our teams so as to have better incentives for all of our players. For the fact that they have elected me, my administration is going to be characterized by great changes.” Augustus Vokar said.

The results of the election are as follows: Augustus Vokar President and Cyrus Wright vice president for Administration, Weyee Gaye vice President for Operations, and Morris Sando vice president for players’ welfare. Others are Anthony Wright, General Secretary and Meme Clemens, Financial Secretary .Abraham Dukuly and Isaac Bundo are treasurer and chaplain respectively.

Announcing the result, the chair person of the elections commission, Jerry Weagbeh, said there were six hundred and seventy nine registered voters. Of the said registered voters, four hundred and seventy-nine voted while 166 stay away from the process.

Weagbeh further explained that of the 479 votes cast, Sekou Kenneth accumulated 167 votes while Christiana Marvey got 117 votes, and their co-runner Augustus Vokar received 190 votes. He further disclosed, ” there were five invalid votes and with the exception of the Presidency all other positions were unopposed.’’
