Nuquay names successor in District#5

Following his selection by Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai as his running mate for the Presidency in the October elections, Speaker James Emmanuel Nuquay has named a son of Margibi District# 5 as his heir in the district.

Speaker Nuguay was petitioned recently in the district to re-contest the representative seat in the upcoming elections on the ticket of the People’s Unification Party or PUP, something he accepted, and it is believed that he had already prepared campaign materials for the polls, but would now put all aside to become running mate in the Presidential bid of the governing Unity Party Standrad Bearer, Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

The outgoing Margibi Lawmaker and Speaker has named Alexander B. Charlie, a.k.a. “ABC”, one of his strongest supporters in the district to vie in his stead. Mr. Charlie hails from Gboma Town in Margib, but currently resides in Dennis’ Farm in Dinning-ta Clan, Cinta Township District# 5.

“ABC” holds a BBA Degree from the Cuttington University and works with the Internal Auditing Agency as well as President of the Dinning-ta Clan Progressive Youth for Development. The UP Vice Standard Bearer made the pronouncement at the Weala Public School Auditorium over the weekend during a meeting with citizens after holding consultations with youth, elders, chiefs, and supporters.

He says many of the chiefs and elders told him that they want Alexander B. Charlie to succeed him in the district to continue developmental work along with him for the betterment of the district. He notes that though others who were named are qualified, but Mr. Charlie is the best person for now, adding that this young man has always understood him and will eloquently articulate the interest of the district and the county in the 54th Legislature.

Speaker Nuquay says he would continue consultations with different groups of people in the district on how they can work together in making sure that “ABC” becomes the next lawmaker for the district.Even though the people of Gibi asked him to take one of their sons, Speaker Nuquay says he’s going to consult with the rest of the district about their request.

Meanwhile, in a mass meeting, almost all of the citizens, who spoke, pleaded with the people of Gibi to maintain their agreement with the speaker to support one of their sons in 2020 for the Liberian Senate.Upon the pronouncement, many of the citizens were seen jubilating in the hall, while others frowned, saying, “ABC” does not easily share with people, but yet others jubilating told this paper that he does not have money to share with people but has good human relationship and popularity in the district.
