Orphans Concern-Liberia to launchs Excellence Award

A local charity Orphans Concern – Liberia is expected to officially launch the Mother Victoria B. Young annual excellence award on December 11, 2015 at the Assemblies of God Mission High School in Monrovia.

According to a press release quoting the Executive Director of Orphans Concern- Liberia, Amos M. Sawboh, the award, the first of its kind, is in honor of Mother Young for her role as the first Liberian to established an orphanage over40 years ago, which provided homes for hundreds of orphans and indigent children.

The release said annual award program is developed to also honor top performing orphanages across Liberia, including individuals and institutions that are contributing to the wellbeing of children living in orphanages and orphans across Liberia.

Mr. Sawboh said over 300 children in orphanages as well as administrators, caregivers and the leadership of the National Union of orphanages and children welfare institutions and prominent individuals and institutions will grace the occasion.

Currently Mother Young is 92 years old and runs the Fatima Cottage Orphanage Mission in the township of Dixville, outside Monrovia which carters to hundreds of orphans. Mother Young has contributed immensely to orphans and less fortunate children in the country.

Mr. Sawboh said youth that grew up in orphanages have deemed it prudent that this award be given to individuals and institutions that are contributing to orphans as Mother Young did and continues to do. Press Release
