P/works minister knockdown by unknown vehicle

Days after Deputy Commerce Minister Cyril Allen Jr. was killed in a tragic motor accident on the Robertsfield Highway at the Kendeja Hotel junction, another minister in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf led government narrowly escaped death on Decoration Day March 9.

Public Works Minister Gyude Moore was hit by a speeding vehicle while jogging in Congo Town along the Tubman Boulevard early Wednesday morning. He was immediately rushed to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center here where he is responding to treatment. Reports say his injuries are minor.

Police investigators are said to be treating the incident as a hit and run. President Sirleaf as part of her tours on Decoration Day visited the injured minister at the JFK along with several government officials including Information Minister Eugene Nagbe.

Moore was expected to be discharged shortly. The latest incident has raised eye brows as to whether ministers within this administration are being careless.
