People with disabilities seek protection

People with disabilities in Nimba County have launched a campaign in Ganta, the commercial capital against discrimination. The spokesperson for the group, Gabriel TogbaSoh, said, the awareness is intended to educate the public to stop discrimination against people with disabilities. 

Mr. Soh said the public should consider disabled people as friends, lamenting that “disability does not spread, but stigma does!” In a statement, people with disabilities from various communities in Ganta complained that they have been victimized by both drivers and motorcyclists, while crossing the streets.

Also speaking, County Coordinator Kougbay Zawolo Kulah said, they need protection from government and state security forces. Mr. Kulah called on government and the public to protect people with disabilities in Nimba County, and across the country.
