Players Union In The Making

The Liberia Football Players Union (LIFPU) is at the verge of being established in Liberia. Efforts for the establishment of the organization is being spearheaded by a Veteran Liberian Sports Journalist, Wleh Bedell, in collaboration with Sillah’s Foundation President, Kasumu Sillah ,the President of Pro USA, George Duannah, as well as a host of Liberian Footballers in Europe and other parts of the World.

 

The objective of the organization is to ensure the welfare of all Liberian Football Players at home and abroad.

More than 80 Liberian Footballers from various Premieres, first and second Division Clubs on last Wednesday attended a mass meeting at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

During the meeting the Players express joy over the establishment of said organization in the Country, promising their support and cooperation at all time.

In an exclusive interview with New Dawn Sports recently in Monrovia, Wleh Bedell, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia Football Players Union (LIFPU) noted that over the years, Footballers in Liberia have been marginalized by Club officials, emphasizing that as a result of such action, Players were disregarded in terms of their transfers, insurance and welfare, among others.

According to him, he is currently holding consultative meetings with Premiere, First and Second Division Club Presidents to see reasons in accepting the existence of the organization.
