Police charged 4 with murder in Grand Gedeh

olice in Grand Gedeh County have charged and sent to court four persons in connection with murder at the PTP Refugee Camp. Police charged sheet said the four suspects are charged with murder based on Section 14.1 of the new panel law of Liberia.

The defendants are: Augustine Wright – prime suspect (Liberian); Sehi Jean Nestor – co-defendant (Ivorian); Augustine Kankan – co-defendant (Ivorian); and Bah Dennis Diouhan – co-defendant (Ivorian). They are charged for murdering victim Oulai Guei, who was found dead in front of his tent on October 21, 2014 at the PTP Refugee Camp (Block KK).

According to neighbors of the deceased, Oulai’s dead body was discovered on the early morning of October 21st. The victim and prime suspect Wright reportedly shared the same apartment up to his death. Eyewitnesses, who escorted police into prime suspect Augustine Wright’s room, said bloodstained clothes and sharp objects were found in the room.

Augustine Wright works for CARE International Ebola Awareness in the camp. Many of the refugees expressed grave concern over what they termed ‘mysterious death’ of a fellow refugee while seeking refuge in Liberia.

The late Oulai Guei fled Ivory Coast in 2010 during the disputed election in his country and came to Liberia with his father. The rest of his family members were allegedly killed in the Ivorian crisis.
