Police Investigate Gedeh Child’s Death

Police in Liberia’s Southern  Grand Gedeh County are investigating the death of a one year old child in Zwedru.

The child (name with held) was reportedly found hanging at the front of her parents’ shop in the city on Wednesday at 9 in the morning.

A state radio correspondent in Grand Gedeh County reported that the one year old-baby girl left her mother who was preparing food at the back and went to the front of the shop to play.  The correspondent said, while playing with a clothes line, the child reportedly untied a knot of the line and placed it around her neck.

She was later found hanging before the shop owned and operated by her father, Mohammed Bah. Her body was later taken to the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru, where she was pronounced dead by medical authorities.

Meanwhile, the deceased father, Mohammed Bah, mother (name not disclosed) and a few others present at the time of her death are assisting the police in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County with the investigation.
