POLICE OFFICER WANTED FOR MURDER

The Liberia National Police (LNP) says it is investigating a Homicide involving one of its officers, who allegedly tussled with a 36-year-old resident of Virginia, Montserrado County Fedesco Chea, resulting to serious injury of the victim.

An LNP release said the incident occurred while the officer was performing his official duty in the City of Brewerville, Montserrado County early Sunday morning 5th February.

According to the release, the police have identified the officer involved as Patrolman Jammel K. Roberts, who is assigned at Zone Six Depot Two, in Brewerville.

The release also disclosed that the victim was immediately rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital by the LNP Ambulance where he was pronounced dead by doctor on call.

The LNP document added that the remains of the victim have been deposited at the John F. Kennedy Hospital mortuary in Monrovia, while investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the police said that it is making all efforts to have Patrolman Jammel K. Roberts apprehended.

The LNP release furthered that it has put out an “All-Points Bulletin” at entries, exits and other major checkpoints around the country to arrest and turn over the alleged perpetrator, if seen.

However, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police has extended condolences to the bereaved family, and called on the public to remain calm, as all is being done to apprehend Patrolman Jammel K. Roberts and bring him to justice.

The LNP administration has suspended Patrolman Roberts for time indefinite off the job, pending outcome of the investigation.
