Police put stolen properties on display

Police in Bong County are still exhibiting properties confiscated from suspected criminals in Gbarnga and parts adjacent. In recent weeks police in the county have raided ghettos and entertainment centers suspected of selling narcotic substances.

During the raid, several properties believed to have been stolen from community residents were confiscated. The police have exhibited stolen properties at their headquarters in Gbarnga, asking community members to prove ownership and take possession, including generators, computers, air conditioners, and amplifier, among others.

Bong County Police Commander Col. FedrickNaipaye say the police will ensure criminals are chased out of the city, adding that several criminals were arrested, but some were released because congestion at the Gbarnga Central Prison.

However, Col. Naipaye stressed that despite being put on parole, the police are keeping serious surveillance on those criminals and will not relent in re-arresting them when caught in another theft.

The Bong County police chief has at the same time commended the people of Sergeant Kollie Town or S.K.T. adjacent Gbarnga for chasing suspected drug sellers and users out of their area without the police involvement.

He said the citizens only notified the police about their action and conducted their activities in a non-violent manner. Relative calm has returned to Gbarnga and its environs, especially at night since the raid as criminals are not seen in some of their usual hideouts, including the Ganta Parking, Telecom Community and Fareast, amongst others.
