PPCC holds annual forum today

The head of the Public Procurement, Concessions Commission (PPCC) Mr. Dorbor Jallah says, his institution will today hold a one day procurement forum in Monrovia which is an annual event. Mr. Jallah said the purpose of the annual procurement forum is to educate the public about the entire procurement process.

Speaking Wednesday, June 29, 2016 on state radio ELBC, he said the role of the PPCC as mandated thru its Act is to make sure government receives some values of monies and to also promote economic development, while helping to promote competition among companies.

According to the PPCC boss, the institution has some responsibilities toward implementation, likewise agencies, adding that they must strongly hold those responsibilities to help strengthen Liberia’s growth. “Qualifications promote transparency, all is geared toward procurement best practices,” he emphasized.

He said agencies on the other hand, are responsible to manage companies that are awarded contracts in order to achieve positive results, adding that when an agency goes through all PPCC’s processes and is given a greenlight, it supposed to be a services provider based on the specification provided.

“We do monitoring to ensure that what is done is straightly in accordance with the law of PPCC,” he emphasized.  He said the commission’s duty is to appraise performances of entities which is not a new thing, adding in the delivery of goods, there are protocols.

He called on stakeholders to help deliberate on the law of the institution, noting such mindset will help foster growth and development in the country. “Laws are made and meant to govern people; they are there to ensure fairness and transparency toward the public.”
