Pres. Sirleaf acknowledges God as the nation overcame challenges

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has acknowledged the grace of Almighty God during 2015 as “this Nation overcame challenges, made forward strides, and remained united in peace”.

An Executive Mansion release said, President Sirleaf made the acknowledgement when she delivered her New Year’s message to the nation. She said as each year brings new challenges and presents new opportunities, it is incumbent upon us as a nation to move into the New Year optimistic that the challenges, anticipated and unanticipated, will be adequately addressed.

The Liberia leader enjoined Liberians to reckon the opportunities to fulfill our development goals will be seized upon; that our security as a Nation will be preserved; and that God will guide, guard and protect this Nation, keeping us stable and in peace.

In a passionate spirit, she called on her compatriots to resolve to demonstrate our love for Country. She further entreated all Liberians to take heed that above all the diverse views and political debates, sometimes even political bickering, a spirit of tolerance and patriotism will prevail.

President Sirleaf then admonished Liberians to be ever mindful that we are together on a ship of State, a single ship of State, which must be kept on an even keel, noting it is then that we have the greatest chance for prosperity.

She however challenged all and sundry to forge ahead as “One people, one Nation, united for peace and sustainable development.”
