Pres. Sirleaf addresses Revenue Symposium Tuesday

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to deliver an opening statement and also serve as a moderator at the country’s first-ever National Revenue Symposium, tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 July under the auspices of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) in Monrovia.


The LRA and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will host the one-day symposium at the Monrovia City Hall under the theme, “Domestic Revenue Mobilization.”

A press release from the LRA says during the symposium, findings from four regional dialogues on domestic resource mobilization held last year and early 2017 will be presented to stakeholders.

The National Revenue Symposium is an opportunity to hear what the people are saying about tax administration in Liberia and to put forth suggestions for the domestic resource mobilization strategy for the country.

The pending symposium aims to, among others, raise awareness on the importance of Domestic Resource Mobilization; engage with stakeholders on a Domestic Resource Mobilization strategy, and gather Taxpayer’s feedback on revenue administration in the country It ill bring together major stakeholders from across the country as well as representatives of international partners and multilateral bodies, including the UN, World Bank, ECOWAS, African Development Bank, USAID, EU and the African Tax Administrative, among several others.

Besides, the Revenue Symposium will also serve as the platform to launch the LRA Five-Year Corporate Strategic Plan as quick action in fostering effective tax administration for mobilizing resources domestically. Press Release
