Pres. Sirleaf welcome investment

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has welcomed the need for more investment opportunities for the youth and young people of Liberia through the of building an inclusive educational systems that will transition communities from conflict to peace, developing the capacity and making them more independent. “Investing more in the young people is a boost for Liberia” – she said.

An Executive Mansion release said, President Sirleaf made the assertion when she received in audience Ambassador Pamela White and Elizabeth Mullen, Technical Manager, Workforce Development and Youth Employment Economic Growth Division of Creative Associate International on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at her Foreign Ministry Office.

President Sirleaf assured Ambassador Pamela White that the Government of Liberia greets such efforts that will build the academic, intellectual and moral abilities of the youths, especially in the areas of development and capacity building as well as access to more quality education. She however informed Ambassador White and Ms. Mullen that their initiative will be embraced by the young people – something she said will earn them additional livelihood.

She said there are already Vocational and Technical institutions owned and operated by the government that are training young people in different areas of specialization but need to be buttressed. She named the Booker Washington Institute (BWI), in Kakata, Margibi County, and Tubman University in the Southeast among others as some of the institutions in the business of providing life skills for the young people.

She also used the occasion to applaud Ambassador White and Ms. Mullen for their visit to Liberia and entreated them not to hesitate to ask her if she could be of help in any way possible through partnership.

In separate remarks, Ambassador Pamela White and Ms. Elizabeth Mullen, Technical Manager, Creative thanked President Sirleaf for granting them audience as their visit is aimed at seeking investment opportunities in Liberia to elevate youth development and education. They said their initiative will provide outstanding, on-the-ground development services and will forge partnerships to deliver sustainable solutions to global challenges. Its focus is on building inclusive educational systems, transitioning communities from conflict to peace, developing sustainable economic growth, engaging youth, promoting transparent elections and more.
