Kakata, Margibi County, August 11, 2025: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has dedicated the newly renovated Camp Jones Military Barracks in Kakata and Camp Grant Military Barracks in Sanniquellie.

In a speech delivered on Friday, August 8, 2025, President Boakai emphasized that the projects represent his administration’s core commitment to the welfare and operational readiness of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).

Addressing military personnel, government officials, and citizens, the Commander-in-Chief highlighted that these renovations are more than just a refurbishment of buildings.

“For too long, our brave soldiers…have contended with congested and inadequate facilities. This situation was untenable,” President Boakai stated.

He explained that the modernized barracks will provide soldiers with living and working conditions that reflect the dignity of their service.

The president commended the Ministry of National Defense and the AFL leadership for their diligence in completing the projects.

He also extended his gratitude to the contractors and the communities of Kakata and Sanniquellie for their support.

President Boakai affirmed that the investment, made possible through government resources, sends a clear message: “We value our soldiers. We honor their sacrifices.” He stressed that adequate housing, proper sanitation, and functional workspaces are not luxuries but fundamental necessities for a professional military force.

President Boakai described the revitalized barracks as more than just military posts, but as “hubs of professionalism, centers for training excellence, and beacons of stability” within their respective counties.

He charged the soldiers who will be stationed there to take ownership of the facilities, maintain them with pride, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

He encouraged them to continue being ambassadors of peace and to strengthen the bond between the military and the civilian population.

The dedication of Camp Jones and Camp Grant is, according to the president, a significant step forward in a broader agenda to revitalize the national defense infrastructure.

President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue investing in the AFL’s training, equipment, welfare, and facilities, with the goal of building a force that is a source of enduring national pride.
