President Weah Consoles Ghana
President George Manneh Weah has sent a message to the Government and People of the Republic of Ghana following the death of one of Africa’s greatest sons, former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The Former UN scribe died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 80 after a short illness.
Mr. Annan, was the seventh Secretary General of the United Nations (January 1, 1997 – December 31, 2006), a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and astute diplomat.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, Mr. Annan will be remembered as a global statesman and a deeply committed internationalist; and for his role in the pursuit of global peace.
President George Manneh Weah on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in his own name, extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Ghana, especially the bereaved families for the irreparable loss sustained as a result of the passing of Mr. Annan.
“It is our fervent hope that His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and the people of Ghana will find strength, courage and comfort during this difficult period of mourning”, the Liberian leader further declared.-Press release
