Presidential AD Camp against corruption

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s AD Camp, General Jerry T. Hinneh, has lashed at corrupt government employees here, warning that people don’t have to steal government money simply because they want to finance their personal investments.

General Hinneh made the comment inside Diggsville on Friday, 24 April, while dedicating a 13-bed – room guesthouse that, he said, he has successfully constructed from “managing his salary.”

The guesthouse, named “Numondeh” Guesthouse, a Grebo language translated as “do your thing,” has various prices for middle and low income guests per night from US$15 to US$25, respectively.

“When you are working for money, do something for yourself; you don’t have to steal government money to do something for yourself. I managed my own salary to do this project,” he told a team of reporters who had visited the facilities over the weekend.

General Hinneh said in line with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s promise that “Papa will come home,” he has managed with his salary to “bring home” his part of plastic bag which he believes will not only empower families, but also others within the community and beyond.

“I know the issue of corruption and everyone is aware; people don’t need to do extra things to do investments, you don’t have to steal, but manage your little salary,” he urged.

General Hinneh is confident that the Numondeh Guesthouse is strategically situated to help a lot of people, especially for contractors and business people who are doing construction work in the Diggsville Township, among others.

General Hinneh said over time, he recognized that one problem people faced in the township is accommodation, thereby directing his investment towards such direection to ease the problem of lodging.

In closing, General Hinneh thanked President Sirleaf, saying “I have been with her long time and she gave me job” which, he says, is all he wants to expand what he earns through business.
