A proctor administering the 2014 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams has expressed fears that many students may fail this year’s exam due to their poor understanding of the instructions. The president of the Montserrado County Teachers Association, Mr. Armah Sherman, observed that many students are improperly shading their answer sheets which will make all their answers invalid.

Mr. Sherman, who is supervising at the Newport Junior high school testing center, told the Liberia News Agency Monday that the center is hosting five schools from around Monrovia, accounting for 140 students for this year’s WAEC exams. Wells Hairston, J.J. Ross, Lebanese Cedar, Massa Christian Academy and Muslim Congress are the senior high schools taking the WAEC at the Newport Junior high school.

Meanwhile, Sherman has indicated that candidates are sitting the test in old, dilapidated chairs. He said all attempts on their part to get better sitting facilities during the regular school year proved futile due to the “no money syndrome.”
