PUL opens book for fallen Journalist

The late broadcast Journalist Singbe G.F Johnson, Jr.The Press Union of Liberia or PUL will today, Wednesday, December 9, open a book of condolence in memory of fallen Liberian journalist Singbe G.F Johnson, Jr. The book will be opened at noon at the Union’s Headquarters on Clay Street in Monrovia for the media, judiciary, Liberia National Police and members of the public to pay their last respect ahead of the journalist’s funeral this weekend.

According to a PUL release, the remains of Singbe G. F. Johnson, Jr.

will be removed from the Samuel Stryker Funeral Home at 4pm on Friday, December 11 and taken to the Lord Strong Tower Ministries, Inc., at the last Cowfield Junction on Duport Road in Paynesville where wake keeping will commence at 6PM.

Funeral service will be heard at the same church on Saturday, December 12, 2015 beginning at 8am, following which the body of Mr. Johnson will later be transferred to Totota, Bong County for internment. The respected journalist died suddenly on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his New Mataldi residence in Monrovia. The Press Union of Liberia has described Johnson’s death as an excruciating misfortune for the Union and the journalism profession in  Liberia that is in need of more accomplished mentors. Singbe G. J. Johnson, during his career as a journalist, rose to the position of Director General of the state-owned Liberia Broadcasting System, General Manager of the Renaissance Communications Incorporated, which runs Truth FM and Real TV. The late Johnson also worked as Assistant Director for Public Affairs at the Liberia National Police and finally Director of Communications at the Supreme Court of Liberia. The PUL is, meanwhile, urging all journalists and the public to be in attendance for the signing of the Book of Condolence at the Headquarters of Union today, Wednesday, to eulogize their colleague for his contributions to journalism and the State.
