PYJ mobilizes Marylanders

The leader of the newly organized Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) party Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, has taken his campaign for so-called majority leadership in Liberia to Maryland County, southeast Liberia, telling citizens there that the only way the country’s reconstruction drive would speed up is to have the majority in power.

Addressing a well-attended meeting with cross section of citizens in several cities and towns, including Pleebo, Harper Big town, New Kru town, and Fish town, respectively, the Nimba County Senator and presidential hopeful for the October elections, says Liberia’s reconstruction may only become a reality if there is change in leadership led by the majority.

He lauded the people of Maryland for their turnout in the recently held voter’s registration process, adding that the voter’s cards obtained empower them to decide on polling day whether their lives will improve or remain at their current states.

He calls on citizens across the country to go to the polls on October 10th with their eyes open to select a leader that would reconstruct the country.  Senator Johnson laments that in the sub-region, Liberia is 169 years old and possesses many natural resources, so it must be on par with her neighbors or even far better.

The MDR political leader emphasizes that a MDR-led government would focus on reconstruction, security, and fight against corruption, among others.  He says his struggle for the presidency is an indigenous struggle that every Liberians should to deliver the country from the hands of those he terms as “political grasshoppers and pepper birds.”

He assures Marylanders that if elected President of Liberia, his government will critically look at the issue of alleged ritualistic killings associated with the county to put a halt to it.
Welcome ceremony for PYJ in the county was graced by women, youth, students, as well as cross section of citizens from the three political districts in the county. Meanwhile, Nimba County students at the Tubman University in Harper City through their President S. Bobby Zlahn, has presented two separate letters to Senator Johnson.

Mr. Zlahn in an interview with this paper said, the letters contain requests for Nimba County students at Tubman University to benefit full scholarship rather than financial aid, and for the Presidential hopeful to help with funding to boost a housing project for the students that is expected to take off shortly. He disclosed that the housing units to be constructed will host students from Nimba that will enroll at TU and cannot afford to pay rent due to economic hardship.
