Remain vigilant against Ebola

A local businessman in Cinta Township, Margibi County has urged security personnel manning check points across the country to thoroughly screen vehicles traveling from one destination to another for sick people, including temperature check for passengers and drivers to avoid the new cases of Ebola from spreading.

Moses Darmo, CEO of MOABEL Enterprise Inc, a local contractor firm, said it is scaring to note that health authorities in Monrovia have quarantined more than 150 contacts, including 25 health workers, 10 of whom have been described as high risk.

He urged Liberians to become proactive in fighting the Ebola virus rather than allowing it to spread before taking action. Speaking to this paper recently in Weala, Moses said responding now is better, noting that Liberians already know how to tackle the disease so they should not allow complacency to override them.
According to him, adherence to preventive measures such as regular hands washing, reporting dead bodies to health officials for proper burial, and calling health personnel to assist when signs and symptoms of the virus are being experienced, among others should become paramount.

He said news of over 150 contacts among them 25 health workers being quarantined should claim immediate attention of Liberians as a wakeup call to curbing the virus before it adds insult to injury by completely destabilizing the country’s already weak health system and struggling economy.
