Rep. Flomo advocates for media institutions

Montserrado County District 13 Representative Edward Flomo calls on government to give budgetary support to media institutions that are currently creating awareness against the deadly coronavirus in the country.

Representative Flomo said since the pronouncement of the first case of the virus in Liberia, the media has been very proactive in disseminating the necessary information to the public.
Speaking with reporters over the weekend when he launched his district coronavirus awareness campaign, the Montserrado lawmaker said he believes if the government gave out financial aid to media institutions, it will further enhance the media work in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.

When asked whether he has plan to communicate with his colleagues to ensure his request is granted, Representative Flomo disclosed that he will shortly put a communication on the floor of the House to call for financial aid for major media institutions in the country.
The lawmaker disclosed that he has donated over 1,000 hand washing buckets to residents of his district.

He said besides, he also intends to distribute detergents, including 250,000 cartoons of cholera and another 250 cartoons of detergent powder for hand washing purposes.Rep. Flomo also spoke of plan to distribute 250 bags of rice to less fortunate people in his district as they stay home and observe health protocols.

He said the British firm, APM Terminal in Liberia has also contributed about 40 containers or drums to enable residents wash their hands constantly. By Bridgett Milton-Editing by Jonathan Browne
