Rep. Korga wants BIVAC appear before House

Nimba County District #5 Rep. Samuel G. Kogar is seeking the indulgence of the House of Representatives to invite Bureau Inspection Valuation Assessment Control (BIVAC) relative to its operation in Liberia over the years.

According to him, his decision is based on several complaints emerging from stakeholders’ engagement where many of importers who attended legislative hearings complained of unnecessary bureaucratic bottlenecks they continue to experience while importing goods here.

Rep. Kogar also wants the House to inquire from BIVAC the profits it has made from 1999 to present, so as to determine what has been government’s fair share from such taxation arrangement.

He says during investigative engagement with stakeholders, there were too many complaints of the manner and form in which BIVAC has been handling issues of fees, especially the high level at which charges are levied, resulting to hike in prices here. The House has instructed the Committee on Commerce to investigate and get back to the body.
