RIA to resume commercial flights

Authorities at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) and Health officials here have become brainstorming over the possible reopening of the country’s only international airport to resume commercial flights. Liberian Airport Authorities (LAA) posted photographs of an interaction between health officials and airport management on the airport’s Facebook page on Wednesday.

The meeting according to the LAA post, was a brainstorming session with health officials on protocols for travelers The talksalso aim at instituting public health protocols at the airport. RIA and other Liberian airports closed to commercial airliners in March of this year, in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.

But LAA Management says it has drafted a mandatory public health concept for travelers. The draft document bears a technology aided screening, testing and quarantine procedure. LAA says its drafted public health concept paper is in keeping with an advisory from the Airport Council International (ACI) and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) Photos credit: LAA
