Dr. Samukai noted that the donation was against the backdrop of the urgent need for medical supplies at the health post. She said upon her previous visit to Yegbedu Town, she envisaged the need for assistance to the people in the areas of Medicare and education, but decided to return with a surprise other than an initial promise.

“Most Leaders’ messages often fall on death ears; but President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s “Christmas Message for 2012,” calling on all Liberians, particularly those with fortunes to share with the less fortunate during these festive seasons, did not fall on death-ears this time,” Chessor-Samukai recalled.

She described the most important thing in the medical field as life-saving, her main goal, emphasizing that she would continue to be of help to the Yegbedu Community Clinic. Chessor-Samukai promised to deploy medical personnel to the Yegbedu Clinic in Foya at the choice of the people for a period of two years at her own expense.

In response to the gesture, Yegbedu Town Chief Saah Kolobalee paid tribute to Chessor –Samukai for the donation, saying it was not a surprise to him because when the latter first visited them, the first two things she sought for were the Clinic and School.
