School teacher flogs colleague to death

Police in Tappita, Nimba County have arrested and charged a 26-year-old school teacher for allegedly flogging to death his 30- year-old friend. Suspect Daylah Duyen had reportedly sold his motorbike to the late Samuel Kollie for US$200, and gone to him in Miller Village outside Tappita to receive final payment of the amount in the sum of 1,500 Liberian Dollars.

The deceased had promised to pay the balance on Sunday, 5 August, but forfeited, begging Suspect Duyen to instead, come on Monday, 6 August. Daylah narrates that when he engaged his late friend about the money, Samuel failed to pay on the day he had shown.

Suspect Duyen, a teacher at the Ranneh Elementary School in Tappita, further explains that when there was no way to get his money, he accused the deceased of gambling the money, something, he claims led the late Kollie to waste palm wine on him, which resulted to a fistfight.

‘’I told the decease to produce my money before I could leave his village, but he told me that his wife was not around, so I should wait for the next day which was on Monday’’, Daylah narrates.

According to him, after he left the area were the accident occurred, he later went to his wife, but subsequently he saw group of people coming from Miller Village, telling him that the man both of you were involved in a fistfight has died.

The suspect confessed that he hit the late Samuel with a fire wood, which caused him to fall on the ground after people intervened, separating them and telling them not to fight because they were friends.Suspected Daylah has been formally charged with murder and subsequently sent to the Sanniquellie Prison Compound, awaiting trial.
