Scorpion Taekwondo Academy Holds 4th Promotional Test

The Scorpion Taekwondo Academy under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Saturday, March 27, 2010 held its fourth promotional test for 143 students at the Samuel K. Doe Basketball Gymnasium located in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

During the program, 76 students received Yellow Belts, 33 students received Green Belts while 6 and 28 students received Blue and Orange Belts respectively.

In a brief remark, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Scorpion Taekwondo Academy,  Master Junior Pewee-Russian,  lauded the Minister of Youth and Sports for its immense support to the academy and the Liberia Taekwondo Association at large.

Earlier, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Etmonia David Tarpeh, urged all well meaning Liberians to contribute to the growth and development of Taekwondo in Liberia.

Minister Tarpeh, who is a student at the academy, said the sport keeps one focused as it has to do with the mind, body and soul. According to her, the sport makes one physically fit and healthy. She then encouraged her compatriots to learn few techniques for self defense.

The occasion was graced by high profile government officials, members of the Korean-Liberian Church, the president and members of Liberia Taekwondo Association, Students of the Scorpion Taekwondo Academy among others.

During the program, Master Junior Pewee-Russian entertained the audience when he demonstrated his Russian techniques.
