Self-Help Bridge Construction at Standstill in Rivercess

The Chairman of the Mannah Beech Self-help Road Development Project in Rivercess County says the construction of a self-help bridge linking Gbaisolo and Wiah Towns in the county has come to a standstill due to lack of materials. According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Mr. Jefferson Tiah made the disclosure recently in an interview.

He said due to the unfortunate situation, local commodities, especially perishable product are spoiling as farmers now result to trekking long distances to get to market to sell their goods. Chairman Tiah said the delay in the completion of the road project is also causing serious economic hardship for the citizens.

He stressed that if nothing were done to provide materials for the project, that part of the county would remain inaccessible during this rainy season. Mr. Tiah called on government, local and international NGOs to assist in the speedy completion of the project.
