Sen. Yallah insists on Bong division

Bong County Senator Henry Willie Yallah has reaffirmed his commitment to continuously support a bill proffered to divide Bong into two counties.

“People should not feel because we have stopped talking about it meaning it will not hold, we are doing all our under works because as soon it starts, we want that bill to be passed,” Senator Yallah told a cross section of citizens recently in Bong.

He told a cross section of citizens recently in Bong Mines that he remains focused to ensuring that Lower Bong gets county status.
There are some eminent citizens from Bong including Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor and Laymah Gbowee who are not supporting the bill to divide Bong. They say it is not timely to give Lower Bong county status.

But Senator Yallah maintains that has the necessary experience a lawmaker needs to convince his colleagues about a decision that benefits the citizens and as such, he will succeed in the struggle of giving Lower Bong a county status.

Senator Yallah was recently petitioned to contest the 2020 Senatorial election.

He references 1847 where past leaders were insulted as a result of bringing ideas for Liberia’s independence and also 1964 when Bong and other counties were struggling to gain county status.

According to him, life is difficult for those who are residing in Lower Bong, stressing the need for them to have fair share of the county’s development funds.

According to Senator Yallah, as lawmakers prepare for their county sitting, he will propose that the agriculture component of the Bong County Technical College be moved to Tumutu in Salala since the entity is not closer to Lower Bong,

He says this will enable those who will enroll at Tumutu to receive Bachelor degrees like anyone in Gbarnga, the county’s capital.

Sen.Yallah notes that when that is done, professors who will be sent to Tumutu will integrate into the communities, build houses, and begin to change the status of the lives of people that are living there.
