Senate Pro-Temp car crash

Senate President Pro-Tempore Armah Zulu Jallah, has been reportedly involved in an head-on collision with a motorbike, while driving from Bopolu, Gbarpolu County, leaving one person with a fractured leg.

The lasted incident occurred last weekend in Bopolu when the Pro-Temp reportedly ran into the motorbike of a 29-year-old agriculturalist, Vefee Dukuly, leaving his left leg bone fractured, near the Bopolu Joint Security Checkpoint.

Disclosing this to our Gbarpolu County Correspondent, the county’s Police Chief of Traffic (COT) Alexander W. Korden, said the accident occurred when the Pro-Temp’s vehicle, which was traveling from Bopolu, collided with Dukuly’s motorcycle heading from the opposite direction.

Officer Korden narrated that during preliminary investigation on the scene of the accident, it was observed that the Pro-Tempore, who was driving a white jeep without a license plate, did not carefully observe the speed limit that a vehicle should have when approaching a security checkpoint.

COT Korden said that the victim, who is a resident of Madina Town, was later taken to the Chief Jallah Leone Medical Center in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County where he was hospitalized with doctors confirming that Vafee Dukuly sustained born fracture and that he was on the next day transferred to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia for further medical examination.

The Gbarpolu Chief of Traffic also added that family members of the victim informed his office that the Pro-Temp Jallah provided 3,000 Liberian Dollars to facilitate the victim’s transfer to Monrovia, but did not see the money himself.

He said the Senate Pro-Temp informed him that his (Pro-Tempore Jallah’s) un-licensed vehicle was being process at the National Police Headquarters in Monrovia and would be made available at a subsequent date.
The vehicle, was not however, impounded in keeping with the Road and Traffic Regulations, which direct that all accident vehicles be impounded, pending further investigation. However, only the motorbike was taken to the Gbarpolu’s Police Detachment.

This is not the first accident involving Senator Jallah’s vihecle; in early 2014, the Senate Pro-Temp had another tragic accident with a motorcycle, leaving one of the passengers Mark McKay, reportedly dead from wounds he sustained from the incident in Bomi County.
