Education Officer of Bong County has fined DEOs, who refused to turn out at the county Spelling Bee Competition, held last weekend. CEO Beatrice Karngay Bornor said Deos who did not attend the program and refused to send students to participate have been mandated to pay a fine of five thousand Liberian Dollars each.
She described the action by the Education Officers as an obstruction to education, maintaining that her offices will not condom such behavior from them. Madam Bornor said she expected all districts in the county to have been represented at the competition, commending Fuamah District education authorities for their long distance travel to participate in the competition in Gbarnga.
The Bong County education Officer praised the three persons, who emerged as winners of the competition, and urged them to study for the national competition expected to take place in Monrovia.
Those expected to represent Bong County at the National Spelling Bee Competition are David Howard of the Bong Mines High School, who took first place, Mafata K. Swaray and Sekou B. Jabateh of the David Feijue High School in Gbartala who came second and third respectively.
